teather anchor for car seat

where is the teather anchor for a car seat on my 2000 extra cab?

Do I need to remove the seat back to get to it?

I need to install a car seat after all these years.

If its there you will see it. But only some 2000 model cars had the tie downs in them. I think 2001 is when the became standard in all cars. It really does not matter, the seat belts work just fine, if you install it the way the manufactures tell you too.
Stop by you local Police or Fire Station most will do a safety check for you.

It's actually a booster seat. the booster seat itself attaches using the seat belts as normal. The optional 5 point harness it comes with needs a tether anchor.

I have a rear facing car seat in my 2000 S-Cab and I just use the seat belt. When it comes time to spin it I will investigate more but I dont think mine has an anchor.

I have an 02' and they are there on top of the back seat. I have stuffed them down behind the seat cause I don't have any kids (yet) . I would start by feeling around behind the seat against the rear cab. If they are there you shouldn't have too difficult of a time locating them. Good luck.

thanks. I'll check again when I get home tonight, but the anchors weren't obvious to me last night. I have a feeling I don't have them on my truck.

As I search the net, I see anchors weren't really required back then.

I don't know the 02 but I can guarantee you if you have top anchors there are bottom anchors. Plus I think 2001 is when the anchors became standard in all cars.

Pull slightly on the cushion of the back seat near the back window and feel around. Mine were stuffed down there wrapped with rubber bands from the factory.

***EDIT***
Nope, nothing there. Just the 3 top tethers at the top of the seat back

The top anchors may have been standard in 2001 but the bottoms weren't standard until 2005 and only and option the year or two before that. I found a brace on the back of the cab to use for the top tether. When I convert mine to using the seatbelt I'll have to investigate more to find something to anchor the bottom to.
