1978 Ford F-150

One look at this vintage truck and we wonder why anyone would buy new.

Ford consistently sells an incredible amount of F-150 pickup trucks every month. And there’s plenty of reason as to why that is. Since the F-150’s inception in 1975, the pickup truck has offered drivers a versatile and reliable vehicle to tackle heavy-duty jobs. And the F-Series just gets tougher and tougher with each successive model. However, this 1978 Ford F-150 that we found on Hemmings has us questioning why anyone would buy a new truck.

On the block for just a touch under $16,000, this truck has some standout features that give it an awesome look, first of which is the orange and black exterior. In addition to the bold paint job, it’s got a six-inch lift with Skyjacker hydro 7000 shocks and massive 37-inch tires.

On the inside, there’s a reupholstered modern bench seat, newer door panels, Bluetooth stereo and an aftermarket gauge cluster, but the original dashboard remains intact. With a 351 Windsor V8 under the hood, power brakes and four-wheel-drive, this truck has us longing for the old days. Although we really want a new Raptor, this classic Ford truck is definitely a close runner up.
