ICON Creates Another Amazing Ford F-250 Reformer (Video)

It’s all about the details in Jonathan Ward’s latest project.

Jonathan Ward of L.A.-based ICON knows how to build an amazing truck. With his recent Ford F-250 Crew Cab project, he made sure to build a truck that is reverential to the original, but completely modern and amazing. With this project, it’s the details that matter. In Ward’s 25-minute video, he goes over every nook and cranny of the truck, proving how much thought was put into this build.

When his client came to him wanting to build a Dodge, Ward decided to steer him over to something else. Starting with a 1965 F-250 Crew Cab, Ward knew that this could be a special and very unique truck. There was only one problem: The client was dead set on using a Dodge engine. While that might seem completely crazy to some on this site, for this build, it actually works just fine. That’s because the engine isn’t the star of the show.

Almost every inch of this truck has been tinkered with and perfected. Why use a stock part, just to use a stock part? It’s better to take inspiration from them and make them more refined. That’s the mindset that Ward used in this build, which all began with the exterior.

Taking the F-250 and blasting it down to the raw metal allowed Ward and his team the ability to modify the truck ever so slightly. Aligning the panels and fixing the gaps made this truck look better and more refined than the day it came out of the factory. Once he was happy with the exterior, the paint had to be just as special. Ward’s team decided to use custom colors for this truck. The result is a two-tone paint job that fools the eyes at a glance. Depending on the angle and lighting, you may not even notice the different colors, but up close you see just how well they work together.

Rounding out the exterior are more of those refinements that set this truck apart from other ’65 F-250s. The trim down the side of the truck is taken from the Custom Cab model of the truck. Instead of sticking to the stock looks of the Crew Cab model, Ward decided to look at the two-door Custom Cab as inspiration. The handles, lights, grill, etc. are all either stock or modified slightly for better aesthetics. One of the biggest changes you will notice are how Ward took the F-O-R-D lettering and changed them to say ICON.

The interior is the same story as the exterior – stock, but refined. The gauges are modeled after the crew cab. The knobs are custom made, based on the stock ones, but aluminum with brushed nickel. The seats are beautiful, but with the modern heating option for the front and back seats. He even took inspiration from the Mustang for portions of the interior.

All in all, the 1965 Ford F-250 Crew Cab ICON Reformer is an amazing finished product with tons of effort and care put into it. The whole video is worth a view, breaking down every inch of the project and going over all the details. Makes you wish you could win the lottery and let ICON build one for you, too.
