BUILT FORD TOUGH: F-150 Effortlessly Survives Freaky Flip

Driver of F-150 got cut off by a Caddy, but thankfully his trusty ride kept him and his passengers safe, with no reported life-threatening injuries.

We often hear about how safe the F-150 is, with its five star crash rating and all. But those tests are conducted in controlled environments that simply try to simulate real world conditions. So while they do prove helpful when you’re looking at buying a vehicle that can also protect your precious cargo, what really matters is real world safety results.

And you can’t argue with the results of a bad crash that happened recently in the desert of Nevada. Las Vegas’ KNTV 13 Action News reports that a Cadillac SUV driven by two tourists crossed in front of a Ford F-150 while trying to pull into a gas station, causing a collision. Both vehicles lost control, struck a curb, and flipped over.

Amazingly, both the driver and passenger of the F-150 escaped with no injuries. Their two elderly back seat passengers suffered only minor bumps and bruises. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case with the occupants of the Cadillac. Despite everyone wearing their seat belts, the driver had to be transported to the hospital but is in stable condition. The female passenger sadly passed away.

Incidents like this are a good reminder that there’s more to vehicle shopping than horsepower and tow ratings. No matter how great a truck is, it’s worthless if it won’t keep you safe in the event of an accident. Thankfully, great safety ratings are just another feather in the F-150’s cap.
