F-Series Owns the Spotlight at Fabulous Fords Forever

From car-based pickups to bone-stock heavy duty haulers, this year’s all-Ford extravaganza was extremely truck heavy.

This year marked the 33rd annual showing for Fabulous Fords Forever. But 2018 also marks 70 years of the iconic F-Series, which meant that this year’s Buena Park, California-based event, which took place April 15, was even more special. Ford’s cash cow was well represented as a result, with everything from a vintage Model A roadster pickup to a slew of Lightnings on display. And Pickup Trucks was there to capture it all on film.

In total, over 1,600 Fords showed up this year. And as you might imagine, pickups were well represented. Plenty of which were bone stock and beautiful, including a 1976 F-250 Camper Special. We were particularly impressed by a pair of family heirlooms: a 1955 F-250 and a gorgeous Light Aqua 1954 F-100. Both of which have remained in the same family since they were purchased new.

Fans of the modern day F-Series weren’t going to go home disappointed, either. Countless Lightnings rolled in for the show, both stock and modified. There was a Vortech supercharged and lowered ’94, a stock ’97 and ’03, and even an ’02 used in both the Optima Street Car series and Silver State Classic Challenge.

Of course, it wasn’t just the F-Series fans had to look forward to. We also spotted a group of car-based Ford pickups, including both Torino and Falcon-based Rancheros. Throw in a lifted, lime green F-350, and you’ve got a little something for everyone. If all of this sounds like your idea of a good time, be sure and mark your calendar for the third Sunday of next April.
