2017 Ford F-150 King Ranch

University study shows F-150 is more ‘American’ than any other truck.

Rack up another distinct honor for the Ford F-150. On top of being the best-selling vehicle in the U.S., it’s also now the most American truck, as well. In a recent study by American University, which ranked all vehicles based on which is the most American, the F-150 comes in at #1 out of all trucks.

The 2017 Made in America Auto Index is compiled by the university’s Kogod School of Business and it ranks all vehicles based on a variety of factors. They take many things into consideration, like where the assembly plants are located and where the automakers source their engines, transmissions, and other parts, as well as the location of the parent company’s global headquarters. Not surprisingly, the F-150 did very well in the ranking, scoring #4 overall and #1 among all trucks.

When you see those Silverado and Ram commercials touting how they’re American made,
you know that truly the F-150 is objectively
more American made.

The only vehicles to score higher were the Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave, which are all basically the same vehicle. Plus, it’s not as if those vehicles scored insanely well. The three SUVs all ranked a mere 0.5% more than the F-150. So basically, they’re all the same.

The purpose of the study is to educate potential buyers on how and where specific vehicles are made. Those hoping to support U.S.-based vehicles now have a better idea of which cars and trucks are actually made in the good ol’ U.S. of A. Plus, it also shows which vehicles have the most impact on the U.S. economy. So, when you see those Silverado and Ram commercials touting how they’re American made, you know that truly the F-150 is objectively more American made.
