Ford F-22 Raptor

This super-Raptor may not be able to fly but one lucky individual snagged the one-off ride for big bucks while supporting youth aviation programs.

The Ford F-150 Raptor is one of the most hardcore pickup trucks on sale today. And its muscular looks play a large role in the Raptor’s intimidating character. To help generate some funds for the Experimental Aircraft Association’s (EAA) annual Gathering of Eagles fundraiser, the association got their hands on a custom Raptor that it auctioned off.

The F-22 Raptor pickup, which was auctioned off in Oshkosh, Wis., brought in $300,000. That, for the record, is enough to buy approximately six regular Raptors. That’s a lot of money for a pickup, but the one-of-a-kind machine has numerous upgrades over a stock truck.

Power from the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 is up from 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque to 545 horsepower and 660 lb-ft of torque. Braking performance has also been increased, thanks to Alcon six-piston calipers, high-friction brake pads, and oversized rotors. The Raptor’s suspension, which is beefy straight from the factory, has been upgraded with a front suspension and bump stop kit from Addictive Desert Design and a rear spring pack from Deaver.

The exterior of the F-22 Raptor is much more aggressive than the stock pickup’s as well. The exterior, which has been updated to look like the F-22 Raptor aircraft, features a unique exterior paint job by Sherwin-Williams. DeBerti carbon-fiber fender flares, hood vents, and fender vents also give the truck a more aggressive look, while a modular off-road 1.3-million candela LED lighting system by KC Hilites should provide enough light to brighten an entire neighborhood during a blackout.

The extraordinary pickup truck was purchased by Gary Ackerman of Gaudin Ford in Las Vegas, who serves as Honorary Commander/Ambassador for the United States Air Force’s F-22 Squadron at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. With Ackerman’s background, this truck clearly went to a good home.
