Pristine F-100 even features a gem from another automaker under the hood, which could cause some fan boys to get angry at auto shows.

Now is a fantastic time to get into the classic pickup segment as prices are trending upwards. And the lucky individual that manages to snag this 1953 Ford F-100 that we recently spotted on the Classic Cars auction site will surely get a head start on creating an epic collection, as well as getting a car that will continue to trend upwards. In other words, this is a win-win.

F-100s look miles better than modern Ford F-150s and this truck’s paint job showcases the pickup’s gorgeous lines. The listing claims the truck’s wearing a burgundy paint scheme and features a custom tonneau cover, chrome bumpers, 18-inch American Racing wheels at the front, and 20-inch wheels at the back. The tonneau cover hides an amazing wooden bed kit with diamond plate sides that looks immaculate. Somehow, the truck manages to look like a hotrod, which is something we love.

Under the hood, and sorry Ford fans, lies a ’71 Chevrolet 350 cu. in. V8 engine that’s paired to a Turbo 350 automatic transmission. To help get the engine to make a little more power, the previous owner fitted performances headers onto the engine, which exit out into a dual-exhaust system. This F100 probably sounds like a beast. There’s also a little bit of bling thanks to a chrome water pump, billet pulleys and overflow tanks, as well as aluminum valve covers and air cleaner.

The interior is also nicely updated with a custom bench seat with a center arm rest for those nice, long cruises. The original gauges have been replaced with ones from VDO that are much easier to read and help continue the updated theme on the inside. There’s even an AM/FM radio with a cassette player underneath the seat. In addition to all of the new components, the original 50th anniversary steering wheel is still fitted to the car and looks amazing.

At $34,950, this F-100 isn’t exactly cheap. But it’s an immediate collection starter that will not only turn heads at auto shows, but will also be able to be used regularly in comfort. That’s a rare trait for a classic pickup. And if you’d like to see a closeup of the truck, check out the video above from Pacific Classics
