Is there anything cooler than a hot-rodded ’50s Ford truck? We think not.

There’s a reason why ’50s Ford trucks, particularly the 1956 F-100, are so popular. These fat fendered beauties simply look amazing with a little finesse and metal work. Heck, even in stock form one could argue that they’re the best looking trucks ever produced. And even though modded ’56s are a dime a dozen, we never get tired of drooling over them.

Take this Magic Red ’56, which we recently spotted over on the Mecum auctions site, for example. It’s the recipient of a ton of metal work, yet retains all of the charm of the original. The bumpers, emblems, and door handles are gone. The rear fenders were widened three inches, and a reverse flip hood replaces the original. But it’s still unmistakably a 1956 F-100.

And it’s thankfully still 100% Ford, with a 351 Cleveland under that fancy flippin’ hood. Quite a few people choose to go with small block Chevys in their trucks, so we’re thankful the builder kept the drivetrain in the family. The front suspension is also from a Ford – the popular Mustang II setup. That, plus 2″ drop spindles, helps those fat fenders hug the ground.

The interior is every bit as smooth and well thought out as the exterior. A smoothed out, custom dash carries Dakota digital gauges. A Vintage Air unit keeps occupants cool as they sit in a comfy tan seat. And a matching billet steering wheel and custom center console rounds out the tasty insides.

It’s quite apparent that this F-100 follows a common build theme we’ve seen many times before. But it also serves as a reminder of just how timeless these trucks really are. We’ll never get tired of looking at them, and we doubt you ever will, either.
