5w30 oil in a 5.4

Dealer did some warranty work for my today on my '06 screw with the 5.4 in it.

they threw in a free oil change.. I noticed on the paperwork that they put 5w30 (motorcraft synthetic blend) in it .. When I asked about it .. they said "that is what it comes with" and that is what we use on all the oil changes we do .. I made them clarify that they didn't actually mean 5w20.. they said, nope, we use 5w30.

my question.. the manual and the motor both say use 5w20.

am I ok to leave the 5w30 in it, or do I need to change it out?

thanks

Motorcraft® 5W-20, the motor oil that’s better for new Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles and less harmful to the environment. Designed, engineered and recommended by Ford Motor Company, it delivers performance comparable to our Motorcraft® full synthetic at both very high and very low operating temperatures and pollutes less.

why that dealer put the WRONG viscosity oil in your truck is beyond me.
its in the book, its on there computer, HELL ITS ON THE FILLER CAP..

take it back and bitch at the service manager because that isnt right.

btw that isnt a syn blend its regular dino oil. MotorCraft doesnt make a syn-blend in 5w-30 only 5w-20.

Paranoia sets in......... The only reason Ford went to 5W20 was to try and get the utmost MPG. 5W30 in no way will hurt anything.

Aw yes, those that know more than the manufacturer of the vehicle.
You might want to do a search in 2004-present forum.

thanks guys . .. didn't think to search in the 2004-on area. found just a few threads there

I am going to leave it in and run it for a few weeks, since my schedule sucks right now .. then when I take it back to the dealer, I will just kick the service mgr in the cashews, and make them do a swap to 5w20 for free..

And for those that didn't search, this is probably the best one to read.

I probably built you're engine, and we have since 02 used 5w-20 regular oil, 5w-30 won't hurt, having a syn blend will help if anything. Tell the dealer this, right from an employee that builds these things. Just for say so really, he's just bieng ignorant, you are educated.
