rebuilt 4r70 does nothing

Tranny lost overdrive so we took it apart and the clutch packs were bad. Replaced those and put it back together. As we were installing it, it fell forward and the tq converter hit the floor. Never touched the valve body, but everything worked except od before. Now nothing works. Reverse worked for a bit, now nothing. Would dropping the converter kill it? It did hit pretty hard

Btw, it has 12 qts of mecon V and I held it in gear with the brakes on for quite awhile, shifting to all gears.

It says 14 in the manual, but some online say it takes a little over 12. It's showing full on the stick.

I assume this is a 4R70 transmission? 14 qts is correct to refill a 4R70

torque converter might be damaged, might have also damaged the front pump.

you mentioned the clutch packs, did you install new lip seals on the clutch piston?

Overdrive on the 4R70 happens by engaging the OD band... did you replace the OD band?

We replaced the front pump seal, od clutch pack and od servo and clip. Everything else looked good. And new gaskets.

You'll probably have to pull the trans to figure out what went wrong. I'm sure that's not the answer you want to hear. Obviously something went wrong in the process.

I'd be inclined to install a used transmission and be done with it. You may get lucky and find one that was recently rebuilt. Or for about $1,600 you can buy a reman unit.

I had a used trans that we used for parts. It had a busted bolt hole for the starter so we swapped stuff into my original. I could swap the coverter and front pump out. Just sucks that I have to pull it back out.

If you're intent on salvaging that trans, you should have the equipment to diagnose it. Start by checking the line pressures with a gauge.

There is no od clutch pack in a 4R70W transmission. There is an od band, but no clutch.
