Mobil ATF Synthetic ?? $$ ??

Is it worth the $$$$ to switch when I change the trans fluids for the first time. I would have to pump out the torque converter. Not sure how many quarts it would take, but it is $6.00 a quart. Ken

There is absolutely no reason to change from Motorcraft Mercon V. It's already a synthetic blend. However, if you really need to spend $6/qt, it's all up to you. Just make sure it's Merc V compatible.
I believe a complete refill takes 12-14 qts.

I changed to it in all my cars. It will take about 2-3days for you to feel the difference but once it happens you will never go back to any kind of blend. It makes you feel like you are going 20MPH while you are going 65MPH! Shifts become much cleaner and crisper.

Um... If it changes the way your trans shifts, that could be a bad thing!

it is far better to use OEM oil and change it more often. save you some buck and keeps your F150 happy

I changed to Mobil 1 ATF (fully synth) at about 30K on my truck. It now has about 220K and everything works fine. Don't know if it is because of the Mobil 1, but its not broke because I put the Mobil 1 in it........

I would have changed it about 3 times in those miles at least. don't ever make the mistake of thinking that synth lubricants are a substitute for regular maintenance. if you go buy the specs. that Ford gives you your truck will last a long time.

Sorry, I wasn't clear on it, but I change it every 30K SINCE there were 30K on the truck. There are now 220K on the truck, and It is due for another change. Didn't mean to imply that I had driven 190K without a change just because it is Mobil 1.........
