keep overdrive off
is there anyway to keep the overdrive off were i dont have to turn it off every time i start my truck. I have a 2001 f150 with 3.31 gears. I dont like overdrive below 65 mph it kicks out of overdrive to much. At 60 mph im at like 1600 rpm. I wish i had 3.55 or 3.73 gears

mine i s axle code 27. https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=259192
Most of my driving is around town the overdrive kicks in about 40 mph rpms go down to about 1000rpm. If you hit any type of hill or try to speed up it kicks out of overdrive. Most of the time i turn if off just trying to not have to hit the button every time i start my truck.

There are a couple of different companies out there that offer solutions to your problem. Here are a couple of links for you to look at.
This on is a complete trans controller. Not sure if it's worth the price they're asking. $700 WOW!
http://www.powertraincontrolsolution...content-4.html
This one is an installation article about the Dura Trans overdrive controller and it basically turns the O/D off until a preset speed is reached and the it allows the truck to shift into O/D.
http://www.ford-trucks.com/article/i...er_Part_3.html
I know that this one is about $300 b/c I looked into getting one.
It's irritating that you have to be constantly pushing that button, I know b/c I do a lot of driving around town as well, but my view is that for $300 I can push that button a whole bunch of times! Good luck. Hope this helps. Keep us updated on what you decide to do. I'd be interested in seeing how the other controller works.--DIY

Hi.
Yes, a custom tune can alter when OD is engaged ( alter the trnny shift schedules).
No, a custom tune cannot initially turn your OD off at startup.
A simple solution if you are handy or know an electronics hobbyist, is to construct a simple one-shot circut ( using a 555 timer IC), that, when the truck is in in 'Run' briefly pulses a small relay for approx 0.5 seconds. Wire this relay's contacts across the OD button's pair of wires, in parallel.
This way every time you start and then let go the key ('Run' becomes hot), the circuit pulses which momentarily closes the contacts, imitating a button-push. This will occur for every start since the default is OD=on. Normal button function is preserved.
Total cost less than $10. Buy your friendly neighbourhood circuit geek a case o' brew & make it happen. Mine cost less when I installed one in my old truck, since I had the parts lying around. Google for many 555 one-shot schematics.
I reiterate - a tuner cannot do what you ask.
Cheers
