I was just wondering if I need to get a new receiver hitch the one that I have now which has a two inch drop whick I bought when I just had a leveling kit on the truck. Now I have a 6" lift, so would I need to buy a 4" drop receiver or would I still be able to tow with the 2 without any issues. Thanks.

 

If a 2" drop was right on factory rear suspension....and you lifted it 6" ...you'll need a 8" drop.
Your 2" drop will still work...your trailer just won't be level and it will be hard to correctly load for correct tongue weight.

 

I don't know what you're gonna be pulling, but if it's a lawn mower trailer etc, it might be just as easy to modify the trailer to have a higher toungue. Any machine shop could do it. It'd keep people from borrowing your trailer too!

 

you want the trailer to be level, if you use the 2" you will drag the rear leaving gas stations and such, every trailer is diffrent level the trailer and then back your truck up to it and measure the distance, this should put you in the ball park of how much of a drop hitch you will need.

 

I use a 6" drop for all my trailers and they all sit pretty level. I pulled a 16 footer and a Prelude home from Clarksville last week with no problem. You should be fine with either a 4" drop or a 6" drop.

 

Go to eBay, and do a search for "Rapid Hitch." Problem solved.

 

Those are like $200 though, mine was $30.

 

Mine was $120 or so off ebay. I forget. But, no more changing ***** out. Just pull the pin and slide it up or down.
