my sweet lift kit deal w/pics

so im in the market for a lift kit and they are beyond my price range once it comes to getting tires and wheels (20's are a must). so i come accross this guy who wants to go back to stock and we make a deal. for $1400 I get his lift kit, 20" wheels, 35" tires and step bars. considering the lift is $1200 new to begin with I think im getting a decent deal. Its just a procomp stage 1 but a coilover upgrade will be in the future as well as a body lift because id like to run 38's.

this is what his truck looks like after 3 hours of work

here is my truck after 3 more hours of work

i got these a while back planning to run a leveling kit with a lift but im not going to put a leveling kit on a stage 1, ill be putting them in now tho

unfortunetly its raining so im not going to get anything done today. i was hoping to have the front ends reasembled today on both trucks

i was shocked to find that a stage one procomp kit has these in the rear

im not a fan of used lifts but since its a procomp, all the parts that "age" are factory parts i.e. A arm bushings, shocks, springs are reused factory parts so all of these parts will be replace with my stock stuff, not the stuff off his lift.

i took his truck for a test drive and its smooth as glass. with no hands on the wheels it rides perfectly straight. you can tell the big tires want to wander a little on bumps but thats what steering stabilizers are for

Those rear shocks dont come on stage 1 procomps. He must have upgraded at some point.

I take it with 2x4 there is no brackets to be cut? Lucky I really looked into getting mine off but with having to fab up a rear crossmemeber it wasnt worth the work for how little a used lift is worth

i dont know why he had fabtech shocks in the rear but they are a welcomed surprise.

the upper arms are total chaos. got them from pdc motorsports in brea, ca but you can get them straight from the manufacturer.

here is the truck sort of finished. its sitting on all fours so thats half the battle. the rake is terrible, the front sits way higher then the rear. the 3" block just doesnt cut it. i have a 5" fabtech block and longer U bolts in the garage so ill swap them tomorrow.

look at the angle of the upper arm. it looks like i have a 6" lift with a 2" leveling kit. thank god i have a uniball upper so it doesnt matter. and yes, this picture was taken with the truck sitting on the ground, not on jack stands so the suspension is compressed.

just another pic

the front end is so tall that when i put the 5" rear block in, i could clear 37's easily. isnt that unusual for a 6" kit? i have a 3" BL in the garage so maybe i will end up clearing 38's after all
