35's on a 2wd

Whats the best way to fit 35's on a 2wd. A body lift and AS? What do you all think, my buddy wants to try to fit 35's on his 06 2wd but doesn't want to dish out cash for a suspension lift. Oh and he wants to keep the OEM wheels. Any thoughts.....Thanks.

if its on an 04+ i think you can put a 2.5" leveling kit and they will fit, pending upon the tire and wheel backspacing

The 35" tires will fit with a 2.5" leveling kit and stock wheels. I ran my like that for a while before I got my lift. It will only rub a little at full lock, but nothing major.

they will fit with the stock wheels with just a leveling kit, but if you get a wider wheel with different backspacing they wont fit. I have a 6 inch fabtech on my 2wd and 10 inch wide wheels and my 35s still rub. Best bet would be to do body lift and AS but dont with too wide of a wheel. only problem is that body lifts are a bitch to put on on the newer f150's and labor costs a lot.

I have a 2wd and the 2.5" Autospring leveling kit is all I had on my truck with 35/12.5/18 Procomp Xtreme A/T's, and like I said earlier, it worked just fine. The leveling kit actually raised the front about 3", so I got an extra 1/2", if that makes any difference. It rubbed at full lock and thats it. I wish I had some pictures to prove this, but I don't so most of you guys won't believe me, so whatever. I only drove like that for about 2 weeks, before I got my lift so I didn't care about takin pics of an unfinished product.

I dont doubt that they mount or are on the truck, i doubt the only rub at full lock. On an 4x4 truck with a 2.5autospring they rub at full lock. Your 2wd wouold be worse. Plus it will look stuffed and bad. I would get 33s.

From eveything ive learned on this site, 35's doesnt sound like a good idea without a lift suspension lift. A BL at least. Plus with 35's on a 2wd, a regear would more than likely be in order. Go with 33's and save yourself the hastle...

Keith,
On mine it did rub only at full lock (wish I would of took pics to prove it), but some people will never believe it without seeing it thereselves, so I understand. And your right it doesnt look to good with 35" tires on a truck with a leveling kit, I just got mine put on in advance about 2 weeks before my lift.

But back to the forum topic...If you dont want to spend alot of money then a 2.5" spacer will work, you WILL HAVE MINOR rubbing at full lock, but I would get the 33" tires if you plan on not raising the truck anytime soon.

3" body lift and 2.5" leveling kit on the front would clear them, with the right wheel, i have seen it. a 2.5" leveling kit only on a 2WD wouldnt do it.

For 35's a BL and leveling kit are the absolute minimum. By the time your buddy pays for for everything, unless he's doing the install himself, he could get a basic Fabtech 6" suspension lift and do his truck up right. Sometimes cheaper doesn't always equate to what's best.

A regear is not needed as long as you don't go any higher than 35's. I would recommend it though since you will lose out in the power department. I should be getting my 4.56's on real soon.
