2003 lincoln navigator

On Thursday I could not get our 2003 lincoln navatior started(it would crank but not turn over) for 30 minutes and when I did it wouldn't go past 20mph then when I went ten minutes down the road it died and we can't get it to turn over. We have taken it to our mechanic and he thought the motor was gone and the timing belt was either jumping or broke. I took it to the dealership for a second opinion, and they put it on a machine and the only codes they got was p1600 and p1602, they had us buy a new battery also and said there was thin small metal in the oil when they did a sample. Before Thursday, there was a check engine light on and we took it to advance auto to have the codes check and there was a few(misfire on cylinder 8, cmp, o2 sensor) We bought the Lincoln as an as is sale on Feb 24, 2017. Hope anyone can help.

HELP!!!Lincoln wont turn over

Since you bought it "as is", you now own a busted truck. Tough break...

What did the dealership actually recommend for a repair?

If it won't start it's not getting fuel or spark. Does this year have the 32 valve V8? Is there a shrader valve on the fuel rail on that model? If so borrow a gauge from Advance and check for fuel pressure when you turn the key to ON. If I thought there was a timing chain problem, I would do a compression test of all cylinders and confirm the compression.

Drain the oil and see for yourself if there is any metal in it.

Even though you bought it "as is", you might want to check consumer laws in your state. A dealer has certain responsiblities to the public.

It was private sale, not through a dealer.

i have no idea about the 32 valve v8. How do I find out? VIP did a compression text and said cylinder 8 had only 70psi, but the dealership couldn't do a compression test.

It's a 32 valve, the Navi didn't get the 3V till 2005. Not a cheap engine.

Drain the oil and see for yourself if there is metal in the oil. Remove the oil filter and see if there are metal particles in it. If so, the engine is toast. No need to look further. If the oil does not have metal particles in it, I would remove the valve cover and take a look at number eight valve train.
