Need Help with Spark Plug Fireing order On 1995 Bronco

SO i picked up this bronco a few weeks ago and i didnt have time to take a real good look at it till this past weekend...Now i know the guy b4 me put a rebuilt 302 in it only porblem is the truck runns like dog **** and what i have noticed compared to other broncos at the junk yard is that the spark plug wires dont run to the same spark plugs as a bronco in the junk yard so i'm possitive whent he guy put the new motor in that he ****ed up where the spark plugs went to...does anyone know of a Diagram i can use to fix this or if anyone has a 302 can they take a pic of where the plugs go to so i can take my lab top out to my truck and correct the order....thanks

I believe the regular 302 and the HO have different firing orders. Hopefully Steve83 will be along with his comprehensive diagrams.

If you have no idea which firing order you have. pull the spark plugs, stuff a small wad of tissue in spark plug hole #1 and turn the engine over by hand till the tissue pops out. you are at TDC on #1. Then without moving the engine further stuff a similar wad of tissue in both #3 and #5. Turn the engine by hand until one of them pops out.

If #3 comes out first your order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 (302 "HO" and late model EFI)
If #5 comes out first your order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 (302 "standard")

Way back in the old days, they used to stamp the firing order on the intake manifold - would the 302's have that somewhere? Or are we setting ourselves up for a problem here due to possible parts swaps.........

If you follow SR's procedure, make sure you are turning the engine the right direction!

The order is still cast into the intake but...
if the PO rebuilt the engine, who knows what mixture of parts he used?
Probably better to check than to assume the guy knew what he was doing

HO has no effect on firing order; it's strictly the year for all truck engines.

But there's no telling what engine is in the truck now, so you'll have to physically confirm which firing order the cam is by using SR's procedure (or something similar).
