Yes, bearings are known to fail after 12 years of commercial use. It shouldn't be hard to find a good used tensioner arm, or just buy a new tensioner assy. from a Ford dealer. NAPA might even have them.

ok i have another Q real quick

the idler pulley

shouldnt it be smooth and free spinning ?

it is not, it has a good amount of resistance

it will turn but it takes several fingers to do it

i assume its junk also
right

thanks

Yes it is toast you lucked out and cought it just in time. you can just replace the bearing if you want to save a few bucks.

My pulley went on lockdown about 2 months ago and I replaced it and the idler pulley. My truck has 135k.

hi thanks ok, well its the company truck so im not spending or saving anything but i told him and he isnt going to worry about it right now yet

i told him they say that these bearings are only 12k mile service life

kinda surprised him of course

right now ive gotta take the brake rotors in to napa machine shop in the morning to see if they are junk or fixable or what

after replalcing the pads and calipers already, to no avail, still loud screeching

hmmm

thanks

The tensioner & idler pullies should spin freely with shop air from a blower tip.
