I was under the impression that the 9.75 rear end was in trucks 2004 and after. Am I just dreaming this?

I took my new gears and install kit to the garage to have them installed and they told me my 2001 Screw was a 9.75 rear end and not a 8.8. Does this sound right? It is the Ford dealership, but just want to make sure.

 

depends on the motor, only the 5.4l got the 9.75 rear end

 

Well crap, I do have the 5.4l. I had it in my mind that all the 2001's had the 8.8's.

 

Easy way to tell the diff from the two, 8.8 has 10 bolts on the rear cover. 9.75 has 12.

 

also the 8.8 is more round while the 9.75 has a sorta bump on the left side

Yup all 5.4's got the 9.75 rearend. Except for the 7700's they got the 10.25.
