LED bulb swap completed (2010 screw)

So I did this, this weekend.

I had some issues last weekend with the wrong resistors. I installed one 3 ohm 50 watt resistor in each tail light. You will not have hyperflash doing this.

The resistors do get hot, but I just mounted them to the truck itself.

The resistor simply connects to black/green and purple/?? (they are different on the passenger and driver side). These are the two outside wires in the connector going to a tail light bulb.

There has been confusion in the past. You only need one resistor per side of the truck. Just connected to one of the two tail light bulbs.

The tail light LEDs I used are a couple of years old (taken out of my 01 Mustang GT that I just sold along with the switchbacks). But you want to make sure you use RED as red shines through the red lens the best.

I replaced the CHML with a Recon LED unit.

Was a very simple procedure after I realized I originally ordered the 6 ohm resistors and they didnt work properly. I looked all over and read lots of conflicting reports on the right way to avoid hyperflash.

This way does work.

I didnt need to use anything for the fronts...The 3 ohm on each circuit/side is enough.

I love how the tail light bulbs have a warning saying that these are not for use in more than 15 minutes of traffic.. Basically don't buy me if u live in southern cali or any big city -_-

You could have just bought a EP27 flasher relay.

The new trucks lights are controlled via the BCM, there is no relay to replace.

Apologies for reviving OLD thread

I know that this thread is long dead, but I have just stumbled upon it as I embark on an LED swap of some of the lights on my 2010 F150 SCREW. I have seen in several threads that the 2009/2010+ trucks do not have flasher relays for the turn signals. However, Ford offers such a 5 plug relay flasher for sale: http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/Pa...rd&model=F-150

Am I missing something? It looks a lot like the EP27 flasher relay offered to cure the hyper-flashing from LEDs without resorting to resistors/ballasts.

Further research answered my question: no flasher (despite Ford parts: http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/Ca...FB58551#Search

The SJB controls the turn signal lights.
