So I'm still searching but can't find it…is there a how to or something for the mod where you attach the stock air box to the MAF but leave the CAI tube up to the TB? Have one pic, but can't tell from that how the stock air box section attaches to the MAF modified by the prior CAI.
Oh well, good luck.

Just signed-up today...but I've been reading this thread for a few weeks! I actually did the mod, and pulled the silencer today. I can definately hear a difference, and THINK I feel a little difference. Honestly, this is the weakest feeling 4.6 I've ever had..lol. with almost 300k, and worn out shocks, I'm not seeing a huge gain. Besides, gonna change plugs Wed..bad bad detonation if I don't run 93 octane....had the same prob with my gt ( tune, hotter plugs, and shell v-power fixed that...lol)
#1. The end of the flex pipe that was sealed to the silencer housing.....do I need to put a clamp back on that, or will it be fine just shoved back on there?
#2. I have a 98 extended cab 4x4 4.6...from all that I've read, the 3" pvc (3 1/2" od) should basically butt up to the end of the filter housing. Mine actually went OVER it! So, I cut it a little short, to leave room for the coupler to tighten to the housing. The ID of the nipple on the housing is about 2 7/8 ( if I remember correctly). would this housing have came off of a 97? Can anyone confirm that this just don't jive with what everyone else has? (EDIT) BTW, it's and early 98.....08/97....title says 98, and vin runs as 98....so I guess it's got 97 crap on it...lol
#3. Considering that the housing has choked me back down, would it be fesable or even worth the time to remake my pipe a little longer, and cut out the end of the housing so that the pipe will fit just inside of it, and glue the **** out of it to seal it? If so, what would be the best thing to seal it with?

I performed the Gotts Mod on my 97 F150, but I did it in a slightly different way....
I own a 2004 Chrysler 300M Special, and I have owned a 1999 Chrysler 300M before that. I had some spare intake parts lying around...parts I have used for various experiments in the past. One of these was the stock intake elbow from a 98 - 01 3.2 / 3.5L motor. They have a nice, smooth internal path, 90* bend, etc. I simply cut the bend out of the elbow, and use the straight piece (with bellows) and tucked one end (end with the "lip") into the fenderwell. That lip locks it in place.....and clamped the other end around the air filter housing. Please see picture here:
I also removed the silencer....without taking off the factory coupler. Just used a long flathead screwdriver, and a long set of nedle nose pliers....and pulled it out.
Truck runs better now....more more responsive.....
