I would like an answer to this since I am going to do this mod tonight. I will have a car-smart person with me who can probably answer it, but i just wanted to know. Any ideas?

When i did mine I wasn't sure of this so what I did is before I sanded/grinded down the side walls I cut an inch off one side so it was angled like an exhaust tip, then I set it so the angle was facing the front or down, I don't remember which way, that way I didn't chance sanding too much and having it suffocate against the outer fender wall. Then I took a piece of wood and a hammer once I got it almost exact I just lightly tapped it into the fender with the wood for cushion.

I used this version of the instructions on mythat 2007 4.2L v6. It had an airfilter similar to mine where as the 04-08 v8's are completely different. Worked alright but the fitting the tube into the hole part was a PITA! Used a rubber mallet to convince it to go in lol.

Push the pipe through both holes. Do some measuring to make sure the end of the pipe isn't resting against the outer sheet metal.

ok, so i had removed my air filter to check it and now this mod has allowed my intake to suck up soooo much crap that was in the fender, i had to beat the crap out of the filter, (it was still good minus the large crap that had gotten into the fins.

1hr & 16$ later and this mod is done. Took it for a test drive and I can feel the difference. And sometime later im going to take out the silencer. Now just gotta add my name to that list later. Hahah

Oh yeah once the silencer is out can you replace it?

I recommend this mod!

Did this mod today with $18.00 in parts from Autozone. I went that route because they actually have chrome intake piping available(also Lowes was too far away to get there before they closed). a 3" coupler and 4" long pipe was all I needed...worked perfectly and looks awesome. Pic will be posted tomorrow when the sun is out again lol. K&N filter on the way to make this intake even better. Now I just gotta find a 90 degree pipe to go from the throttle body to air filter housing...any idea where to get one??

I found this intake piping for sale and thought it might be better than removing the silencer...I mean you could easily make holes in it for the sensors. Also that way, if you don't like the added noise, you could re-install your factory suppressed intake.

This piece or maybe with another one like I used would probly open up the curved part of the tube alot.
