Question of the Week: New Raptor or New Lightning?
The 2015 F150 is almost here, so it shouldn't be too long before we see our first next gen SVT F150.
For our Question of the Week, we want to know which new SVT pickup you would rather see - a new Lightning or a new Raptor?
Make your pick in the poll above and tell us why in the thread below!

How about none of the above. Neither ever flew off of dealers lots. Yeah, there's a lot of folks that want one but few will fork over the cash to buy one. Ford doesn't need to be adding more models especially since they cut a bunch for YM 2015. To keep pricing low they have to keep making the same thing on assembly lines. There's not near enough demand for specialty vehicles to make it profitable. Ford needs to stick to what it does best since Henry started the company, build the quality vehicles the everyday man wants and needs and build it so it's priced right.

Patrick, Another new Bronco poll? Let it go, son!
As far as the Lightning or Raptor goes, Raptor of course. The Lightning is cool, but the market isn't there for smaller cab street performance trucks.
Raptors have sold 2-3 times more than gen 2 Lightnings ever did, and while the big truck craze hasn't gone away, the early 2000's were the PRIME of the Truck & SUV craze, and L's were a fraction of the market.
Then look at the supercharged Harley trucks, they were SuperCrews in 02-03, and the sales of those were TRIPLE that of Lightnings of those same very years. More buyers wanted bigger cabs than faster smaller cabs. And it wasn't just because it was a Harley truck, when the Harley went SuperCrew the sales doubled from the previous year. The Raptors show the same trend, a SuperCab raptor is more ideal for offroading, but when Ford released the SuperCrew Raptor they accounted for what around 80%+ of Raptor sales? Ford is not dumb. There is a small group of high interest in a smaller cab sport truck, and a large group of high interest in a large cab semi-sport truck, so they go with the bigger return on investment.
I also agree with glc. The Tremor moved towards the Lightning but people laughed at it and cross shopped it with FX4 CrewCabs.
According to SVT's website here are the production figures for each year of the second generation Lightning:
1999: 4,000
2000: 4,966
2001: 6,381
2002: 4,726
2003: 4,270
2004: 3,781
According to SVT's website here are the production figures for the the Raptor:
2010: 10,437
2011: 11,135
2012: 13,784
2013: unavailable but increased
