Good Samaritan in Lifted F-150 Stops Dangerous Road Rage Maniac by Rolling Over His Car

If you’ve ever lived in Florida, you might find this particular piece of news to be a little bit tame. But for the rest of the country, seeing a guy in a lifted truck stop a lunatic in a Camry by simply driving over it qualifies as interesting news. That’s exactly what happened recently in Ocala, and Bay 9 News was there to capture the aftermath.

Ford F-150 owner Zach Waring was minding his own business, driving around with his girlfriend and 11-month old child. They saw Adalberto Aponte weaving in and out of traffic, driving quite recklessly behind them. With Waring stopped at a red light, police say that Aponte unexpectedly exited his vehicle and approached the open window of Waring’s F-150.

Aponte struck Waring in the face several times before Waring’s girlfriend told him there was a gun in the truck. Aponte responded by saying, I’ll show you a real gun.” He then began walking back to his Toyota Camry. Unable to drive away due to the traffic crossing in front of him, Waring did the next best thing. He put his lifted F-150 in reverse and simply backed up over the Camry!

While it’s unclear what led to the altercation in the first place, witnesses corroborated Waring’s story. Aponte was arrested on a number of charges, including “burglary, battery, criminal mischief and driving with suspended license for failing to pay child support in September 2016.” Clearly, this wasn’t his first brush with the law. Or even the second.

While we don’t advocate threatening someone with a gun or driving over another car, at least it appears that Waring’s actions stopped what could have been a really bad situation. And now we have learned that the F-150 can add to it’s already impressive array of uses a new bonus: It doubles as a self-defense tool. And we have Florida to thank for that.
