Thumbs up 18" tire recomendation

I have a pair of lightning wheels that I am going to put on my Spercrew. I am looking for tire size suggestions. I plan on lowering the vehicle 2/4 and want to make sure that everything looks good. If you got any pictures that you can email me, please do!

Stephen.dudra@senergy.cc

thanks,

Stephen

Mine rides higher and smoother since I went from the factory 16s to my Goodyear Eagle GTII 285/60/18. Makes the truck look even bigger than it is! Pics can be found by clicking the link in my signature.

Thank You

RMcoolX,

thanks for the relpy. But, I am looking to lower it 2 inches in the front and 4 in the back. So bigger is not better in my case. I have heard a lot of people using the 60 series tires, but I didnt know if anyone else has lowered their truck as well.

So what I need is a lowered truck that has 18 inch wheels on it and what size tires they have installed.

On a lighter note, I did follow your recommendation as to the speaker box. Kinda upset that it will take 2 or more weeks, but oh well. I should have everything in by the time it gets here. I have an Alpine head unit, A sounstream Rubicon 405 AMP, Infinity Kappa component's in the front doors and Infinity's in the back doors. Then adding a Kicker C10VR sub in the box from subbox.net. Overall the system sounds like it will sound good when put together, but only time will tell.

Other mods planned..... I have the lightning wheels already, Lower the front 2 inches, lower the rear 4 inches, lightning front nose, clear corners. Then I must stop for a little while because of Christmas!!

Thanks for your help with the tires though.

Sounds like you're going with the low profile look. In that case, you should probably go with 20" wheels. 18's would be too smallish looking in my opinion. Also, are you saying that it's gonna take over 2 weeks to get your box from subbox.net? Mine took only 5 days.

sub box

I do want the low profile look, but not the low-low profile look. I am wondering if the 60 series would still work with it lowered like I want. That is the information that I am looking for.

On the sub box, I hope it doesnt take 2 weeks. I am anxious to get it all installed.

I kind of wonder myself. I think I'll get one of my buddies (who does photoshop) to lower mine a few inches. I'll post the pic if I get it from him.

Hey ive got a 2-4 drop on my truck also with the lightning wheels but i have the 60 series tires too. It looks good and the tires fill up the gap but i am switching them out for the 45 series tires. By switching to those i should get about another 1-2" lower cause the 60's are really thick. I like them but i dont think they go with a lowered truck as good as the low profile tires do.

Cool RE: F1504u2nv

Thanks for the reply. Do you have a picture of what it looks like that I can see? How do the faulken tires ride? I considered them as well. However, I want to see what it looks like before doing it.

Thanks for the help.

Stephen

If you don't want the "really" low look, try a 285/55/18. I.E. Michelin Pilot Ltx comes in that size, V rated. nice tires

My truck isn't lowered at all, but I have 285/50R18's on it. Take a look at my gallery link.

Thumbs up

I have a Belltech 3/4 of my 2000 f-150 for about a year now and have not had any problems. I bought the kit including the nitro shocks had it installed alingned the front and that was it. I'm running 255-55-18's in front and rear. I just purchased a set of 285-55-18 for the rear. The ride is firm and smooth. I planing to go to 20in tires in the near future and it will fit with no problems

Here it is. I like it better like it is. It would definately need low profile tires and 20's to look good.

I did the math. P285/60/18's are one thenth on an inch shorter than the LT265/75/16's I'm running now. That'll help give people an idea of how big they'd be compared to what they have now. However, they're like 1.5" taller then the stock p255/70/16's
