What are the pros and cons of General Tires?

I have had my truck for about a year now. I wanted to know what are the pros and cons of the General Tires that came with my truck(F150).

Is it true that the stock rims are proper for these tires? I had someone tell me that whenever, I hit a large pot hole or speed bump the tries have a tendency to lose air? Is this true?

This is my first post. I am glad that I found this site.

I appreciate any feedback.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Somewhat depends on the exact tire, but most people here will tell you the generals are junk. My truck came with the General Ameri550AS tires, size P23570R16. Decent dry traction, bad wet traction and forget about anything off pavement. Snow driving was also terrible and was largely responsible for upgrading to the All terrain tires I now run. They also got good milage, mine had over 60,000 when I junked 'em.

I know only 'cons' . . . many years ago I bought a 1978 Buick Century Station Wagon . . . went through 2 General Tires in 6 months . . . took the car to Germany . . . had the steel belt come out through the tread on one of the tires . . . scrapped them . . . put on Goodyear Eagles and never had any things else since (except for the Wrangler's on my truck now) . . .

I don't see their truck tires being any better than their car tires! I just might have had bad luck or the wrong tires (for Autobahn speeds) but I never had any problems with Goodyear tires so . . . !

i had these on my 99 f150 when i got it used only 8 months ago and they were bald so i bought new ones the back ones went away in only 5 months and the fronts which have never seen the back of the truck are almost gone to i but them on the back and have my good old goodyear trackers up front they have great dry and wet traction as for those generals they are going to become part of the road in a few weeks i'm just going to go to the drag strip and run some passes and thenraost the **** out of them.
