'07 F150 XLT 5.4 L 4 x 4 SCAB 6 1/2 ' bed, need to replace the General 255/70/17 AT2's (112S) currently in each corner. Got 25 K on them. Would prefer all season tires since we only get about 4 feet of snow annually here in Pennsyltuckey, looking for better wear. Important--- I haul about 12 1- ton loads of wood pellets over the course of the year but nothing that heavy otherwise. Most driving is on paved roads, some gravel. No off-roading. Don't think I need tires with aggressive treads. I assume that many "light truck" tires are meant for "lightweight" vehicles, not 6000 lb. pickups. Have heard and read virtually every argument for every tire brand from numerous sources over the last week. I realize tire choice is a subjective/objective combination of specs. and personal preference. Any sage advice would be much appreciated. TNX for a super website!

Reason: grammar
Ladyschoice, I haul ton pallets of wood pellets sometimes as well, I just do it with my '77 after pumping rear tires to 50 psi, fronts at 40 or 45psi, it has 31/10.50-15 light truck tires. I'd hate to have to haul 12 of them a year at what they cost now. My Co-op will haul them the 15 miles on a larger truck, $25 per trip which I just had them deliver 2 tons. My '07 has 20" and I just put new Pirelli Scorpion ATRs on it, they don't make it in your size as far as know so I have no help as to recommendations.

Ladyschoice - I THINK glc meant to say, "you don't need load range D or higher". Load range C is a "standard load" tire.
I also have the Michelin Defender LTX M/S tires on my truck and use it mostly for towing or to take trash to the landfill. Like glc, I find these tires ride comfortably and quiet, have good traction and are showing no wear at all. I had to make a panic stop while towing our trailer on a trip last summer to avoid hitting a doe and two fauns that decided they just had to cross the road in front of me on an otherwise deserted highway. I was certain, as I slammed on the brakes there was no way I'd stop in time to keep from hitting one of the trailing fauns, but, I DID, from 65 mph.
I also haul pellets, and get about 1000# loads at a time for the 17 mile trip.

I am on my second set of DuraTracs. I managed to get 40k miles out of the first set BUT I would have gotten more life if I did not true them at 20k miles. They are not very noisy but the "LT" rated ones are harsh over bumps like any other "LT" tire would be. They ride smooth and do very well in snow and dirt. They are the best all around tire you can buy for hauling and light to moderate off roading. I plan to buy a third set when these wear out. Mine are LT285/70R17's. I did install a 1.5" leveling kit prior to buying these. I'm not sure if there will be clearance issues with your '07 F-150 w/o a leveling kit?
Based on your response to my post and those from tbear853 and JackandJanet, I bought a set of Michelin Defender XLT M/S and will have them mounted next week. I found it interesting that of the 3 initial responses I received from my post, all three recommended these skins. Thanks for the guidance! Wishing y'all a happy Thanksgiving.
