Front driver side brake Problem
Front driver side brake Problem
So within the last year I bought a 2014 f150 4 door 3.5l
when I bought the truck, I notice that the rotors were alittle scratched up so I had the dealer replace them before I bought it. (He didn't replace the pads) I commute to work every day so I put a lot of miles on it. After some time I noticed the front driver side rim was accumulating a noticeable amount of more brake dust then the rest of the truck along with scored rotors. I assumed the brakes we rubbing so I replaced the brake pads. After about 2 weeks and a good cleaning of my rim I then noticed that once again the problem was happening. I then decided replaced the brake caliper and the rotor once again. I seem to be having the same problem even with a new brake caliper, new rotor and new pads. Does anyone have any ideas on what is going on?

It is normal for brake dust to appear on the wheel. The brake on the other side may not be working properly if there is no brake dust on that wheel. The front brakes do most of the braking so the front wheels get the most dust.
If you had a shop do it, it's very likely that they didn't take the time to lubricate the calipers, etc and they could be dragging and not releasing completely and thus causing excessive wear on the pads and rotors. Also just because your caliper is new doesn't mean that it's operating as it should. Quality control seems to be all but non-existant any more. On quirky problems like this I REALLY suggest that people refer to the Ford FACTORY service manual and do the proper checks and make sure that things are put together and torqued and lubricated as they're supposed to be. In my experience VERY few shops bother with any of the fine details and most of them have never bothered to find out any specific directions that the manufacturers call for. This is one of those of; "If you want it done right, do it yourself!"
More dust on the drivers side than the passenger side could also be a sign that the passenger side brake isn't engaging when it should be.

Also on a side note.
i used my lazer thermometer after I got home from work. Every wheel except the drivers side front clocked in at around 80 degrees. The drivers side front temperature was over 140 degrees.
i understand the accumulation of brake dust is a normal thing. But this much brake dust in this much time is abnormal.
