Alright guys, pick me out some wheels...

Although I've been buying bigger tires for my trucks for years, I'm new to the aftermarket wheels game. I'm planning to get some new ones soon, but with so many options out there, I need some ideas. So, throw some at me (Photoshop people more than welcome to participate!) Keep in mind I already have the tires (285/75/17 terra grapplers), and I'm planning on getting a wider wheel, so I'll be searching in the 17x9 range. Here's the truck:

If this were your truck, what wheels would you go with?

Something black and machined from Fuel, Eagle Alloys (no one has these so they'd be more unique), XD, or a few others. They would tie together really well with your two-tone paint.

Though I prefer black wheels personally, I like chrome/billet aluminum on certain trucks and certain colors. I just, objectively, think black and machined will look best with your paint scheme. Because of your location close to the beach, chrome pitting would be a concern, plus chrome costs more and always pits no matter what eventually. Billet is great, but a bare to keep clean and super expensive.

Have fun, John! These are what I pictured for your truck:

Cool link Kmac, there's even a "Build A Truck" link there to see what their wheels look like on your specific ride. Very helpful.

EDIT: Well, sorta. Not a full or perfect custom view but not bad.

I hadn't even noticed that, Far-trader, it is pretty cool! I found a white F150 on instagram with the 20x10 Mavericks I want and mud tires, which pretty much sold them for me. Got his truck as the background on my phone haha.

The FX4 wheels that are machined and chrome would look great on it. That truck looks great. The SCAB in that bed length is perfect.

Thank you! I'm partial to the scab myself. You don't see as many of them out there nowadays.

Damn, Kent. Those fuel wheels are sweet. They're also not cheap I figured you'd be a helpful resource in this area. Thanks for all the feedback and pointers, I really appreciate it.

I do like those fuels a lot. If I went that route, I'd have to wait a few months, since I've only allocated about $500 for this idea so far.

Here are two other options I have found that I would be willing to consider:

17x9 Moto Metals: (these are substantially cheaper)

17x8.5 OEM SVT Raptor Wheels:

I really like the Raptor ones too. I've always been a sucker for OEM stuff

What do you think of these two?

EDIT: I've also been doing some reading in this thread: https://www.f150online.com/forums/wh...-opinions.html. Good info there.

I like those Raptor wheels. What about price of tires, Won't those for the Raptor wheels be cheaper?

The only thing, will those Raptor wheels look "too busy" on your truck with that paint scheme.

I'd go with the Raptor wheel's...17" so you can use your current tires plus the width and offset won't have them sticking out too far and help save the sides of your new truck. The wheel quality is probably better also.

Check out Ultra's Drifter wheels. I think those would look sweet and they are cost effective.

I like those. Quite a bit actually. But they don't seem to have them in anything wider than an 8"

BINGO. I think I like the sound of that. I'd much rather stick with OEM equipment anyway. I can use my current tires, still get a wider wheel, and know with absolute certainty that it's compatible. Now... which Raptor wheel? Hmm.

Well the tires I'm running now will be the ones going on the new wheels. They are brand new tires. As long as I keep with the 17" diameter, tire prices shouldn't be an issue. As far as the Raptor wheels looking "too busy," I was wondering that too. I love the two-tone silver paint, but maybe these wheels would be too much with it. What about the other Raptor wheels? The machine grey colored ones? Would that look bad having a black truck with silver bottom paint and grey wheels? Maybe that's too much too. What do you think?

I think those 2013-14 Raptor wheels would look great! You can find those for $600 or so. My opinion, I like to keep two colors if at all possible, and the older Raptor wheels would be throwing grey into the mix along with the black, silver, and chrome. So I like the 2013s.

Nothing wrong with the Moto Metals either. I started that thread about the company's quality, but it kinda strayed away from that haha. I think they're a good looking wheel at a good price.

How much are those Fuels? Like $700-800? The 20s I want are $1100 shipped, so definitely not the cheapest haha. Better than $4k Forces though!

The best price I could find on those Fuels was about $241 a piece. I do like them quite a bit, but I'm not too thrilled about dropping a grand on them when the Moto Metals are $110 each. I'm sure they're better quality, but if this venture is going to cost me $1,000, I'll just keep my factory wheels. Although I must admit I really do want a wider wheel.

I agree about the grey adding too many colors into the mix. However, I think I might prefer the wheel design of the older Raptor wheels. Plus I've seen sets of them before (without tires) for around $500-$600. I may look into getting them powdercoated black. I think that would be a solid look (if it's possible to powdercoat the wheel and leave the lip chrome).

Man you guys have everything in Texas! I've been to Fort Worth once. I was 17 at the time. Don't remember much except dragging my tongue around the stockyards all night. Lots of good lookin' women there

And cow poop.

Just found these on eBay. The lowest I've seen yet. I'm getting an itchy trigger finger...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/894-FORD-RAPTOR-F150-SVT-FACTORY-OEM-WHEELS-RIMS-17-INCH-F-150-6-LUG/251554929495?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222008%26algo%3DSIC.MOTORS%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D22847%26meid%3D7651027448963440073%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D9835%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D251557191181&rt=nc
That freight amount is brutal, though. Maybe I can find some locally. No such luck yet.
