Need recommendations on new all terrains

I have been looking into what new tires I want. I want to get new all terrains but and herring lots of good and bad reviews for Niro terra grapplers and better reviews on Bfg All terrains. Looking for suggestions on these to and on any other people no about. They will be used for mud occasionally maybe snow when I drive north but not very much but still do commuting to work to.

BFG AT KO's, Nitto Terra Grapplers, Toyo AT's, Mickey Thompson ATZ's, Pro Comp Xtreme AT's and **** Cepek FC II's are all good choices.

Dayton Timberline AT II/ Firestone Destination AT's are not bad either. I believe they are the same tire. I ran the Daytons on my Escape and they held up well. I had quite a few miles on them driving 90+ miles a day 3-4 days a week for a little over 2yrs and they still had plenty of tread. Some of the places I took my boat made 4x4 and an AT tire necessary and they did well then too.

^ x2. I'm running the Daytons now, been a great AT. My next set will be the Destinations AT's to try something different. Don't let the look of the tread fool you. These tires do well in everything I've put them through. Light mud, snow, rock, and rain. Good luck in your decision. Rich

I'm loving my new Toyo AT II's. Ride great, smooth, quiet, look good. Great tires.

Over the year's I've run BFG's..Toyo...Nitto...Cooper and General all terrain's. All have been a big improvement over the stock tires...just how much you want to spend will usually determine your final choice.

Be Warned! Stay AWAY from Pro-Comps if you are doing a lot of highway/in town driving. I've worked 4 years with Discount Tire, and not ONE set of Pro-Comp A/Ts have driven smooth or balanced out well.

BFG's are a very good option, but are quite pricey. The Cooper Discoverer AT3 is a good option, as is the Toyo Open Country A/T.

I can't comment on the Dayton's or the Firestones. Discount Tire doesn't sell them.

I personally would recommend the Hankook Dynapro ATM. I've run Cooper ATR's, Cooper ATP's, Cooper STT mud terrains and these Hankooks. By far I am massively impressed by the Hankooks. I haven't been stuck at all with them in the Oklahoma clay. They ride great and are surprisingly quiet. Not expensive either.

As for the Nitto Terra-Grappler, they are a decent option as well. They aren't too expensive in most cases and ride well. The downside to them is that they are not all that aggressive for the offroad traction, and do not last very long. The compound is a bit soft, and I've found that they wear out a bit too quickly.

+1 for Cooper AT3. Just bought a set for my new wheels. I have always ran coopers on my mustangs and trucks and I get allot of life out of them. Plus you cant beat the price I just got 285/70/17 for 848 mount and balanced with a 55k warranty!!! I never heard of 1 complaint with these. Oh I did have Nitto terra graps on my powerstroke, very noisey IMO and I did not get allot of life from them? Not saying you wont though.

Yes, stay away from Pro Comp. Especially Xtreme a/t. I have them and can not stand them anymore. They look great and ride nice when new. Give them a couple years and it will sound and ride like a back hoe. Impossible to balance after a while too. Try to rotate them and it makes it worse once they begin to wear. I have about 20k on 35x12.5x17 and I am getting rid of them with plenty of tread left, which sucks because I still like the look. The best they could do on balancing now gives a nice ride between 20-40mph and 55-65mph. 45-55mph is like a washboard road and starting off chatters your teeth. The freeway hum is ridiculous. The treadwear warranty is a scam too. They wont do anything for you. I know what they mean by xtreme now. For the price they are a total rip off. Also before you even consider the Falken tires look at them in person. The sipes only go halfway down. Once they wear you will have a nice cheater slick tire. Good if you want to drag race. It is crazy. Look for yourself.
