Fitment questions
Hey guys, I finally just got my truck, and I know that I can fit 295/75/16's under it. It is 4x4, and with a little turn of the torsion bars to level, that's how I know I can fit that size. I don't have money for new wheels and tires, and tires are something it needs before wheels.
I'm wondering if a 295/75/16 will fit on the stock 99 F150 wheels and will there be any/much rubbing at all?
Also, if given the option, would everyone choose the BFG AT or Goodyear Duratrac as the tire?
When I had my jeep, I had the Duratracs, and I loved them...they were excellent in mud and everything, but didn't get a chance to test in snow because we didn't get a much at all this year. My buddy ran the BFG's on his jeep and he did mediocre in the mud and stuff, but when he went north to ski, he ran into snow and said that they were amazing...I have heard good/bad about the BFG's in snow.
I would mainly be using my truck on the road, but I may need to take it offroad to get to a fishing spot or something, or I will probably take it offroad with my friend who still has his jeep.

The 99' F-150 has a 16x7 stock wheel. From all my information, a 295/75R16 BFG can only fit on a rim range from 7.5 - 9.5".
I like both the tires - just depends on how you want the ride to feel when on the road. The Duratrac is more aggressive and will be louder on the highway over the BFG AT.

Road noise is not an issue with me. Do you know if the Duratrac in that size is available in Load Range D? I see on tirerack.com, that it is only available in Load Range E, and I think that's a bit overkill for a half ton truck.
Looking at tirerack.com, I see for 285/75/16 and 295/75/16, it requires a rim width of anywhere from 7.5" to 9.5". I'm wondering if the extra .5" wider than a stock wheel will make a difference or not? Could that size fit on the stock wheel even though it is technically .5" narrower than the recommended size and if so, would it rub?
While it's not recommened, it will work. Just don't overinflate or this could contribute to the thread crowning and causing the center portion of the thread to wear slightly faster than normal.
