Exclamation front wheel bearings going bad...

Well I took my truck in for an alignment and mechanic showed me both front wheel bearings are near bad. Are these serviceable or does the entire assembly have to be replaced? I think I read somewhere on this site you can replace just the bearings but they have to be pressed. Is this true? PLease save all the smart @ss remarks and comments. Be straight with me.

Originally, you replaced the rotor and bearing as an assembly, but there is supposed to be a bearing replacement out now that has to be pressed. There is also a kit made by Concentric taht lets you convert to the 4x4 rotors.

I did replace it as an assembly more recently. So brakes are fine. Its the dang bearings. I have looked up bearings that claim they fit my 2wd. Not too sure if its a typo and they meant 4wd.

Installed them today. Hardest part was trying to reuse the darn cotter pin. Just glad my local hobby shop had a 20 ton press. Drives like a champ now and the pesky roaring noise and grinding during turns has stoppped.

Well Id like to rebutt my last comment. Yesterday on my way into work these front end started howling so loud I could hear it over my radio going down the interstate. WTC! So I inspected the bearing thinking maybe they were not installed right(like you can do it wrong) and nothing helped. I shot some WD40 in them and its helped wit the howling.

Has anyone EVER had this happen to them after replacing there 2wd front bearing with Timken? I called the comapny I bought them from and they want me to buy a new set first then ship them the old ones. Does this sound bogus? I looked up the warranty from the Timken website and it states seller pays for it all NO MATTER WHAT. if its w/n the 1 year. Let me get off the soap box here but any suggestions on my next move?

well after another 2 more bearings and 100s spent i decided to just buy the whole rotor and hub assy from raybestos. got on sale for 100 bucks a piece. Heck thats less than I spent on the freaking bearings and headache.

Not sure if the company I was purchasing the Timken bearings was selling a batch of non refurbished junk or it was the installer(me). Ive done this kind of work nearly all my life w no problems like this before.
SO just be aware this could also happen to you if you buy from ebay or amazon. Lesson learned...500 bucks later

buying bearings for your vehicle is better to buy local at a parts store. more easier to fix problems you might have.
