AR Crawl or Ultra Maverick - Opinions Please

My better half has browsed through a selection and has chosen either the Ultra Maverick or AR Crawl wheels as "acceptable" for our soon-to-be-delivered 2011 Lariat Screw in White Platinum Metallic Tri-coat paint.

I am set on the Goodyear Duratracs.

The two setups would be:

1) DT 275/70R18 on 18x8.5 AR Crawl (BS=5.34", Off=+15mm)
2) DT 295/65R18 on 18x9 Ultra Maverick (BS=6", Off=+25mm)

Will the 295s extend beyond the fender? If so, they are probably out.

In your opinion, which would look better on our Lariat?

Ultra Maverick

AR Crawl

For 18's I say the maverick's, if you went larger than that I think the crawls would look better.

Thanks for the feedback. Keep them opinions coming.

If I go with the Mavericks and the 295/65R18 tires, will there be rubbing, or will they stick out beyond the fender?

Mavs, Backspace=6", Offset=+25mm
295/65R18, Width=11.6", Diameter=33"

I've been told (by the Ford parts guy at my dealer) that the stock 18" wheel is 7.5" in diameter, but I don't know the backspace or offset. The stock tire is 275/65R18 (width=10.8", diameter=32").

Go for the Maverick.

They are probably going to stick out a bit regardless of which combo you go with. I think the factory wheels are either a +35 or +40 offset.

An 8.5 inch wide wheel with 5.34 inches of BS will stick out about 1 1/4 inches farther than your stock wheels. A 9 inch wheel with 6 inches of BS will stick out an inch farther than the OEM wheels.
You stock wheels have 5.5 inches of BS.

Like the mavericks 20x better, but like mdhawkin said the Crawls would look good on a monster rig though.

I wish! Better half has her limits. Perhaps I should see how far those limits can be stretched?

I'd say 6-8in in the form of a suspension lift.

Okay, I get this, but it seems to me that a change in tire width would also affect the amount it would stick out, no?

For example, the stock tires are 275mm wide (10.8") and the Duratracs I will go with are 295mm wide (11.6").

If I go with the Mavericks, we've already determined they will stick out 1" based on the wheel differences.

Would I also need to account for tire width differences? So would I need to add an additional 0.4" ((11.6-10.8)/2) to reach my actual "stick out" number?

I like the Mavericks much more. I think the Crawls would be extremely difficult to clean with those tiny holes at the ends of each spoke.

I have the chrome Mavericks on my 04 SCREW in the 20x9 with a +30 offset with 305 tires and in the front they are almost perfectly inline with the top of the fender flares. I don't know how they would look in the 18's, hopefully better than the 20's. I'm not completely happy with the looks of the 20's for the Mavericks. They are just a little to open for my taste and I have thought of looking for a different wheel. Have you seen a picture of them in the 18 just to make sure you like the looks? Just curios, I wouldn't have bought mine if I saw a 20 inch picture of them.

That is one of my concerns. I did see a pic of an 18, but it was on a chevy avalanche, and they don't know how to take pictures in that forum, so it kinda gave me an idea, but still left some uncertainty.

At any rate, I pulled the plug and went with the 18x9 Mavericks wrapped in 275/70R18 Duratracs from Discount Tire. There were a few of factors:

1) Ordering online wasn't going to save me a huge amount vs. Discount Tire.
2) Discount Tire had 2 $50 rebates (1 for 4 wheels, 1 for 4 tires). It ended today, so I had to figure things out fast.
3) I asked the manager what if I didn't like the wheels (they weren't on site)? He said that I could just return them. No restocking fee? Only if they are mounted. This was huge.
4) I wanted to support a local business.

BTW, the guys at my Discount Tire were super cool to work with.

So, I've purchased new wheels and sneakers and I don't even have my d@nm truck, yet.

Now... what else do I need, I mean want?

So, the better half likes the look of the wheels/tires... then goes on to say, "the truck needs to be higher." Me: What?? Who are you?? I don't even know you anymore.

Then again, we swapped from a 99 F-250 SD Crew.

Maybe that lift isn't out of the question. I need to start working this. Make her think it's her idea. I hope she doesn't lurk in this forum.
