New Tires on the way!
New Tires on the way!
Well, I got my tax return and today I ordered some Nitto Terra Grappler285/75/17. I can't wait to get these things installed. I am still shopping prices around Louisville, KY, but I know that I'll have bigger and better tires soon. I am upgrading from the factory size so I know that I'll have to look to crank the torsion bars up to fit this size. I know that every truck is different, so I don't truthfully know if I'll need to touch them or not, as my truck doesn't quite have the rake that other trucks I've seen on here do.
I ordered these from discounttiredirect.com, as there aren't any Discount Tire locations around here (closest is 2 hours away). I'll let you guys know when I get these mounted and be sure to get pics up soon to prove that this actually happened... haha. Next up... EXHAUST!!
I don't know if you can tell how truly happy I am right now...

You should shop your tires here: http://mrwheeldeal.com/b/policy-faq/
They beat every other deal I could find on a wheel/tire combo by a nice sum. They will sell only the tires as well.

Yeah man, I plan on getting the tires on and checking clearance on turns and whatnot. I guess I'll play it by ear, as maybe the shop that is doing the mount and balance will notice right away that the t-bars need cranking. If so, I'll just get them cranked and have them align it. Thanks to everyone on here for advice... I forgot to mention earlier that Wandell really helped with nailing down a size that will fit without a lift. Thanks again man...
I got a little hitch in my giddy up this morning. I received an email from discounttiredirect.com stating insufficient stock on the tires I ordered. I called and they told me that they're on a National Back-order with not ETA. Isn't that just about my luck. I still need to get tires, but I have no idea what I'm going to do now. This was the cheapest price I could find on this set of tires and I'm not sure what brand would be second on the list of preferences. I just basically want the largest AT tire I can fit on my 17" stock rim without a lift at this point.
Any ideas?

I think I'm going with the 295/70... They are a bit cheaper than the 285/75. I have to wait for my refund to post, though... Apparently my money is now in Paypal purgatory or something...

I have decided to go with the 295/70 Nitto Terra Grappler. I was going to save $44 vs the 285/75, but Paypal really dragged their feet refunding my money and while they held my money, the price went up $41. I bought these through ebay from the discounttiredirect.com store on there. I ended up paying $808... $3 less for these than I would have paid for the 285's, but paypal really screwed me on this one. oh well... I'll have my new tires soon. Thanks all for your help!!
Good deal... I haven't seen many complaints on them, but I also haven't seen anyone praising them from the mountaintops...
I can't wait to get these tires on... I am recently dealing with a misfire issue... I'm going to be getting a code reader after work tonight to try to track that down (sorry, specifics are for another thread) and then I'm getting EXHAUST!!

Same thing just happened to me. I bought 4 LT295/75R16" NITTO 295-75-16 TERRA GRAPPLER TIRES from SD Wheel Corp and once my paypal transfer went through, they informed me they were on backorder (2 weeks). They had 5 days from the time I won the auction to tell me this, funny how they waited until they recieved the money.
So I am trying to figure out if this is a false hope waiting, or if I should look for something else. They gave me a quote on BF Goodyear All Terrain TAKO but the cost is about $250 more.
Should I wait, or ask for my money back?
Thanks

Well, be prepared to wait about 4-5 business days for your refund to come through the Paypal channels... it's a ripoff... they'll hold your money so they can gain the interest on it for a few days.... only explanation for it. Oh well... point is... if you can find something else from SD Wheel, I would do it... you may miss out on a deal like I did, if you wait. Good luck...

Huh..
I am currently waiting on wheels and tires from S D Wheel that I was told were "in stock" before I bought them. They got the money last Wednesday and they still haven't shipped.
Reason for it? They didn't really have them in stock. Supposedly the shipping companies are "backed up because of last week's blizzard" so he can't get them delivered to mount, balance and send to me. I work for an OEM in the automotive industry and we are having no problems shipping product all over the country. We would be shutting down production lines if we did.
According to the email that I received yesterday, he considers an item to be "in stock" if the manufacturer has them.
I am very quickly running out of patience on this deal. I have been told 1 to 2 days for over a week now and could have bought them locally for about $100 more.I guess buyer beware. He will give you a good price but you may be waiting on them for a while, even if they are "in stock".
ETA: My wheels and tires are supposed to be shipping today.
Hopefully they don't get caught in another blizzard in the next 2 days.

Good luck with that, man... I hope they arrived... Mine were shipped UPS through TX and then on to Lexington, KY where they're being delayed by "adverse weather conditions" which is weird for two reasons... One, Lexington didn't get hit very hard and two... Louisville, KY (where I live) is THE lasrgest hub for UPS in the world and they didn't come here where there isn't a flake of snow... Ridiculous!!
