General Grabber

I know there was a member or two on here that put the new General Grabber red letters on their truck. I've searched and cannot seem to figure out who it was/is. I'm thinking about putting these on my truck (black side out), but I'd like to hear some real world talk about them first. The truck is my DD when I'm not on my Harley. Any opinions about them would be great.

Travis

I know 2 people that have them and they seem to be wearing good. The tread seems a little soft to me. After only a few months the red letters begin to fade from the sun and turn pink. If I were to ever have them I would put the black side out.

soft? the tires are made for desert racing. the tread is still tough. lightly softened for the street. i want them in my future set up. dont know anyone personaly with them but from what i see and hear they are a great all around tire! rock crawling mudding high speed desert running. everything but snow. lack of sipping.

Thanks for the responses, keep em coming. I need as much info as I can get since I will be making a decision in the coming weeks after I get the front-end repaired.

I've had the Toyo Open Country MT's before and the Cooper somethings... these tires are absolutely worth the money. for one they're lighter than the toyo's and the coopers. i put them on aluminum wheels to really keep things light weight for MPG's. The best thing about the generals is they're super smooth! the diagonal pattern helps that. I haven't yet had a chance to get them off road.

Yes soft. And yes the tread is very tough. I'm very aware they're for desert racing as I'm on a desert racing team. I've seen both the non D.O.T version and the D.O.T. approved version and personally didn't see much difference. They do have a pretty good humm to them on the freeway. Were running the general grabber at's on the race truck and on my personal truck and I'm very impressed. We started and finished the mint 400 with the same set of tires. Same went for the Parker race, and Vegas to Reno. I've got a lot of experience with generals and I think they make a great tire.

As far as the humm goes these tires are the quietest tire i've ever run. Also someone earlier asked about tread wear; it's very even. these tires are worth every penny as long as you know what you're buying. these are not tires for someone who will never go off road. the truck gods will get you if you try that.

any off road shop should have them. 4 wheel parts has them. http://www.4wheelparts.com/Tires/Gen...29&t_pl=102364 and local off road shops should be able to order them for you in any size you need.

Most any tire shop can order whatever it is that you're looking for. I've gotten prices on these from three different shops, all were really close in price. I would've already gotten my tires but my lower ball joints are shot. [sarcasm] Thanks Ford for not putting grease fittings in them. [end sarcasm]
