Trail Grappler pressure

Trucks at the shop having 295/70/18 Trail grapplers installed. I asked them to put 40 psi in, (max of 80 marked on tire) they said that was wrong, that they would only put in what the sticker on the door called for, 32 to 35. I explained that these were higher load rated tires than the P275/65/18 BFGs it came with they said it didn't matter, the sticker was still correct. So what psi should I run?

You are correct, sticker no longer applies. I am running mine around 45, seems to be working out pretty good.

Ditto, that pressure is designed for stock tires. I also am running mine at 45 psi and seems to be just fine.

Minimum pressure should be 45. I would run them at 50.

PS, you might want to find another shop.

Thanks guys. Thought that was low for these tires. This shop does a lot of aftermarket 4x work, you'd think they knew better. Oh well, I'll just correct when I get em home.

I did run mine at 50 for a while, seemed a tad too high is why I dropped back.

50 for me but I let it get down to 40 before I put air in it. Really 50 is too high though so next time it's 45 for me.

Wow. Knew I liked these tires from the pics on some of your trucks, but the pics don't do them justice. Amazing how much better they look in person, especially when I'm used to the stock tires. Can just barely hear them at highway speeds. Definitely notice the extra weight going uphill, but well worth it.

I started out at 50 which is what I used to run in my Terra Graps. Well with this Trail Graps the ride seemed way to stiff and bouncy with 50psi. I went down to 40. With these 10 ply thick SOBs, you can lower the psi and the tire doesnt sag much at all. It will certainly soften your ride too. I have been happy at 40 for about 14,000 miles now.

I run mine at about 42psi. Seems like an odd number, but I check them every other day...hoping I can make them last with rotating them every 2000 miles. I already have about 9k miles on mine and they are wearing great.
