Only about a half inch difference.

Compare the sizes yourself.

If he had 295x70x17 Trail Grappler's the large lugs would have made them look even bigger then the Terra's.

Yeah, a 295/70-17 is close to a 34x12.00 tire.

Another thing to keep in mind is comparing size to size across manufacturers is not comparing apples to apples. a 305/70 from GY is not the same as a 305/70 from BFG. There will be variances, so you need to consult that manufacturers specs to see what the dimensions are. How and where on the tire a manufacturer can make his measurements can vary and that's why some look and will actually be bigger than others. Keep in mind also, when you're talking about wheels and tires, as little as 5-10mm can make a huge difference that can be very noticeable to the naked eye. Even if the dimensions list out the same, differences in shapes and profiles will mess with your eyes also.

I had 215/45 17's Dunlops on my Lexus and went to a 215/45 17 Michelin and the difference was friggin night and day! And these two tires had the exact same specs, but you'd never ever guess it.

Maxxis makes a Buckshot and a Bighorn in that size, good tires and less expensive then the other's too.

thanks for the info guys, i found that nitto's terra grappler in a 305/70/17 is like 33.98 tall and 12.3 wide the goodyear is a little smaller. it seems to be a rare size.
