ProAct vs Wagner TQ
ProAct vs Wagner TQ
I talked to my local parts store people and they recommended the ProAct Ceramics.......
I told him that there are others on this site that recommended the Wagner TQ's and he said that the ProAct pads are superior to the WTQ's. Said that the Wagners are a semi metalic layer within the pad and that it creates a lot of dust..
Anyone use teh ProAct pads? They are made by a sister company of Raybestos over seas.
THoughts? I really need to get some better pads!!
BTW- Pep Boys Black Friday is selling the ProAct pads for $10.99 a set. fior any vehicle.

Anyone that says a TQ creates a lot of dust is not someone I would buy from. I have 100,000 miles on TQs and have never seen brake dust. Unless they change up the pad in someway, I will never run anything else.

I run the Akebono Pro-Act ceramic pads that we sell here at the Tire Rack. I have also run the Hawk HPS Street/sport pads as well. The Hawks have a really good bite to them, but put out more dust. The Akebono's have treated me really good and super low dust.

I'm on my second set of Pro-ACT's. And will never run them again. They used to be great pads, in my opinion. Heck, the first set lasted for 90K miles or so, no dust, no noise and decent braking. These new pads, which I have on new rotors on both axles are noisy from the first time you step on the brake in the morning until you park the truck at night. They must have changed their pad formulation or something, but think twice before spending the money.
I've always run Raybestos made Carquest pads, made in Canada or the states usuallt, no problems, no dust. They are comparable to Wagners I guess from opinions on this site anyways. Brakes that cost $11? NO NO NO! I would be super hesitant. Even if they were half decent, spend the good money for important items like brakes. No dust pretty much guaranteed with the Wagners so I'd say go with them. I hate imported overseas , the quality 99% of the time blows and that won't cut it with brakes. I think my second set of imported rotors are warped again, go figure! Your parts guy must be retarded if he thinks $11 pads outperform anything.

I was mistaken on the name...the ones for sale at pep boys are PRO-STOP, not proact.
I'll go with the Wagner pads then....gotta do something, my ROUSH chrome wheels look like black chrome if I don't wash it!
