'05 to '07 wheels/TPMS light on ?
'05 to '07 wheels/TPMS light on ?
I purchased a set of used '05 STX Alloy rims/Michelin OEM tires in an ongoing attempt to fix my front-end shimmy/vibration and bouncing/jittery/shuddering ride. The truck would start to vibrate and bounce like the tires were seriously out of round with three sets of new BFG & Yoko tires.
The STX seems to be cured for the most part. The ride seems to be back to normal on un-smooth asphault roads and smooth riding on new asphault roads. I let my wife drive it to work yesterday and she noticed a big improvement over the ride quality. A side note: the roads in AR are lousy at best.
Now I am getting a TPMS light on after about 16 miles and 20 minutes of driving. Do I need to retrain the TPMS? Do I need to visit the dealer and have them reset the TPMS?
Thanks, James

Hello James, You will have to make a trip to the dealer to have them program the sensors to your vehicle or we sell an OEM Ford TPMS trigger tool that will let you do it yourself for $45. Last I checked the dealer was charging a 1 hr labor fee to do it and it is not hard to do at all. Tool would be worth it in the long run.
You might as well order new mounting straps now. You will need them. The straps are not reusable. Every thing else is. You do not need to get them from the dealer. Other places do have them. Do a search here as there are pointers to those places in other threads.
The TPMS sensors used on 2009 up will not work with your 07. You need to transfer your sensors off your 07 wheels to whatever wheel you end up with. If you use your existing sensors, you will not have to retrain at all. Only if you purchase new sensors (for that model year) would you have to retrain.
