On here, the tire shop, friends or anyone...One guys says, OMG I got 55,000 miles out of that tire. Best tire ever. Next guy...those are crap worst tire I ever had. Salesman..."these are a high mileage tire. Should last a long time." I take friends advice, get tire, it is crap. Trust a salesman, get tires, they are crap.

I just wonder what the REAL scoop is on tires and longevity. I rotate them 3-4000 miles. Drive easy. Check pressure.

I am venting because my $195.00 per tire Mastercraft tires 275/65/18's have 17,000 miles (13 months) on them and are gone! Am I doomed to spending $800.00 every year for tires.

Sorry guys just sick of buying tires.

I personally like Toyo and Michelins

 

I'm with Patman, Michelin/BFG is all I've ever bought. I might try Toyo next, but I just have a hard time justifying their cost. If you're paying less than $200 a tire (at full price) then chances are they aren't very good quality tires.

I'm not saying don't buy the tires above....just not been good for me.

I have been thinking Michelins, Geolanders, Firestones but again with my past experiences, spending MORE is scary.

I do not believe my driving is all that rough. Daily I drive 2 miles of rough rock roads in AR twice a day. So 4 miles rock roads and maybe 15 highway. tires should last longer than 17K & 13 months.

 

Yeah, at least twice as long if not 3 times.

 

17-20k sounds like the average life of a set Maxxis Buckshots or something SUPER soft like that. Are you running M/T's, A/T's or road tires?

 

They are Mastercraft A/T2's. I had a tire salesman this morning that was familar with the A/T2's say they are a hard compound. Longer life on highway but chunk out off road.

HE recommended a Firestone Load E he had for $190.00 or an Aurora Load E for $150.00. He said both would give me more than 17K miles.

 

Michelin LTX's would last you 45 or 50 thousand miles EASY. Ive never yet seen a goodyear last longer than a michelin. Get a set of michelins and you will be happy with em.

 

Michelins are most likely where I'm heading.

The only brand there I have actually heard of is Cooper. That is your problem.
