1989 1 owner F-150
Greetings to everyone!
I'm the original owner of a 1989 F-150, built in Nov, 88. I bought it from a dealer in TX in Dec 88 as "my retirement gift to me" after spending 20+ years in the U.S. Army.
It is a reg cab, long bed. 4.9L straight 6, 5 speed manual. 3.55 rear. It is yet to hit 160K miles. It is one of those "TX / OK / LA" specials that is an XL, but almost an XLT in configuration. Biggest difference is no electric windows or locks.
I'm about to refurbish the factory A/C and am looking for any and all input.
Also, has anyone fitted a 4.9 with a cold air intake? What might my options be?
It came with 8" factory wheels and since replacing the tires the first time, I stepped from a 235XL/75-15 to a 255/70-15 and have run that size ever since. While I would like to replace the factory wheels with a Cragar set or similar, I'm at a loss when it comes to deciding which Offset to use. I'm pretty smart about tires & such, but don't know a whole lot about wheels.I am a bit concerned that the extra tire width on the already wide rim may have some lasting detrimental effects on the front end and as such have condidered going to a 7" rim.
I'd really like to replace the bench seat with a 40/20/40, but have had trouble finding more than one source for that item.
I will also be upgrading the sound system and am perusing Crutchfield for a suitable system.
I'm wide open to suggestions here. Any and all input is welcome.
