Stock 20" rims and tires question

I have a set of the 275/55/20 Pirelli Scorpion tires on my truck right now, which after only 19,000 miles are just about worn out. I would like to go with a taller and wider tire, but dont know what size i can get away with. The truck is a stock 08 FX4. I dont have the leveling kit on it yet, but have been thinking about getting one put on. So that being said what can i get away with at the stock height, and at the leveled height?
Also i would like to go with a more aggressive tire. The truck is not my daily driver as you can see with it being 2.5 years old with only 19k on it, but i dont want to put a set of mud tires that are going to wear out rapidly by driving on the road.
Any help would be great.

I have 305/50/20 on stock wheels and they fit before and after my level kit was installed. The only issue I have is they rub the sway bar slightly in tight parking lots at full lock of the steering. I believe you can fit a 275/60/20 without a level as well on stock wheels.

I'd suggest some 305/55-20's (33x12.50).

Thanks for the help with the size. Any suggestions on a good aggresive AT tire?

You may want to look a little further into your suspension as I have those same tires and have almost 40,000 miles on them with a little room left to go. I have heard the Toyo MTs last a pretty good time.

I have the cooper zeon ltz and love them. Fully expect to get 50,000 out of them. I have close to 20,000 now with no real signs of wear. When I do go to replace them I will either get another set of coopers or go with the Mickey Thompson ATZ. Nitto, Toyo and BFG are all popular on here as well.

you can fit 285/55/R20 (32.3" tall) or 275/60/R20 (33" tall) on your stock rims without a level...

I'd also suggest the BFG AT KO, Nitto Terra Grappler, Toyo AT, Pro Comp Xtreme AT, Mickey Thompson ATZ and **** Cepek FC II.

I have the stock 20's and 33 nitto terra grapplers(along with many others) i love this setup, only rubbing i get is when it is in full lock, but a little trimming can fix that.
