2008 FX4 Wheel and Tire help

I have spent 3 days reading every google search possible including 1 hour of questions to Wandell. The problem is I am still not real clear.

Will a 17 inch will fit on my truck? I have 18s and have heard they wont work with 17s. The brake has a good 1.5 distance between the OEM wheel now.

What is the tallest tire I can run with my current 2.5 leveling kit? I have read anywhere from 33 to 35s.

I am going to order a wheel that is 17x9 with 35s if this is possible?
If not would a 285/75/17 Terra work? It is showing 33.86 tall and 11.30 wide.

Thanks for ANY input.

Yes my friend has 17s on his truck with 33's. It depends on what backspacing you have on the rims as to how well you will clear 35's.

Thats a nice setup. Do you think you could have went with 35s? I am thinking the new wheel is 17x9 +15 offset with 5.5 backspacing. Is this good enough for a 35? What is your backspacing?

I do believe he does have 35's, 285/75 is a 35x11.50.

Edit: My bad that is 18's - 285/75R18 is a 35x11.50, you were asking about 285/75R17 which is indeed a 34x11.50

You can fit a 35x12.50 (315/70-17) tire if you use a 17x8 inch wheel with 5.5 inches of backspacing. Personally, I'd go with a 33 inch tire.

Thanks for the input guys. Sounds like I need and 8 inch wide wheel vs the 9 to go with a 35 and between a 5.5 to 6 inch bs.

Wandell the wheel has a +30 offset. Would you be concerned about the fender rub or the inside of the tire? I dont mind a little trimming if that would mean I could use the 17x9. I really like this wheel but....

That specific rim will about split the difference between the 8'' rim with 5.5'' bs and the 9'' rim as the +30 offset is 6.18'' backspacing.

You could probly get by with fixable trimming with a 285/75R17

Thanks. Just got quoted for the same wheel in 18x9 with 5.75 bs and +19 offset with 295x70x18 trail grappler. That is a 34.5 inch high by 11.5 wide. I hope it turns out like Paw paws or AZFX4s trucks.
