i was thinkin about buying my friends old rims which are 17s. he had 33x 12.50 nitto's on them how big of a tire could i put on them ?

when i was shoppin for wheels, it was wandell, who made it all clear for me.

said FX4 rims are 7.5 inches wide, and BFG says their KM2's in 35x12.5 are made for 8.5 to 10.5inch rims.

rim width definitly matter when it comes to tire size, if its too narrow, the tire will bend, like a rainbow, and wear the middle down. if its too wide, it wont seal.

 

they're aftermarket rims...they did have 33' mud grapps on them but idk how wide they were

What is the backspacing? If you don't know what kind of rims are they, we can try and look it up....And...is it a 4x4? any lift? need much more info.

 

they're cruiser alloy stealth offroad rims and yes i have an 03 screw 4x4 with the torsions all the way cranked

 

They probably have a -25 offset or equiv. to 4.5'' Backspacing. I have the 17x10 stealth's and run 35x12.5x17 mud grapplers and also had mine powdercoated black.

 

Gadawg, you can fit a 305/65-17 (33x12.50) with those wheels on your truck by trimming a little plastic off your front bumper's lower valance. If you add a body lift you could fit a 315/70-17 (35x12.50) or a 33x13.50-17.
