Vibrating BFG AT/KO on stock rims

I have a set of BFGoodrich 305s AT/KO mounted on 2004 SCab's stock wheels (18 inch). I get a slight shake (vibration) at 55-60 MPH. Is this because the BFG's are not supposed to be mounted on the F-150 stock wheels? I was told the tires are not to be mounted in a wheel size less than 8.5 inches wide. The stock wheels are 7.5 inches wide. Is this normal? Are the tires out of round? Should I have them re-mounted? Any advise would be helpful. Thanks.

Have them checked on the balance machine, if thats not it check your ball joints.

Lot's of member's run them on stock wheel's with no problems. I would get them re-balanced untill they are correct.

I agree. It's an issue with balancing or a defective tire/tires.

mine did that alittle bit after having them mounted but once i put them on new rims and had them balanced they were fine. one of my ball joints was loose so that could have contributed. both sets of rims were oem 7" also

Thanks guys. I'll take them back to the shop to get them rebalanced. Hopefully that will be the end of it.

You may have a bit of treadcap crowning going on as well because you are pinching that tire on a rim 1" more narrow than is should be. That causes heat at the shoulder area, and that may cause the interior construction to shift, throwing the tire out of balance.

Just because you can does not mean you should....

True. my problem has since been resolved but i did flip the tires from white to black out also. normally that wouldnt effect anything but they were used and on the 250 that ran them they ran blackout and might have caused an issue when flipped around. idk .
