Going From 5 Lug to 6

Hi,
I own a 2002 F150 FX4 with the factory 265/70/17's on it. I have access to a pair of 275/55/20's pull off of a 2006 F150 FX4. My truck runs the 5 Bolt Pattern, While these 20's are 6 bolt pattern. What options are available to me? Would it be worth the $$$?
Thank You,
Tanner

you can buy Billet wheel adapters that are basically wheel spacers that convert your 5 lug into 6 lug. just Google "wheel adapters". they cost between $100-$200 for all four. they will also push the wheels out due to the thickness of the adapter, so be sure to take that into account before doing it

if you are getting the 6 lug 20's real cheap or free then it may be worth it.. if you are paying for them you might as well buy aftermarket 5 lug wheels that are made to fit your truck

I'd try to avoid adaptors.

the spacers will burn up wheel bearings quickly. I had a set of 2" spacers on my truck for a few months and my bearings were shot.

They also made my ride HORRID, id take them off and ride quality would be back, with them on ride quality was non existent.

I also had on more than one occasion the spacers loosed themselves off. I ended up locktiting them on.

My spacers were "suposed" to be good quality but i had nothing but issues with them. And they were fairly expensive. id just get a set of wheels for 5 lug

Spacers and adapters

To whom ever it may concern I've got a 98 f150 super cab 4x4 I put the spacers and adapters on it 2 years in a row have had no problems with wheel bearings nor have I had any problem with lugs loosening up I run my nice wheels spring through fall and it has been fine.

Hey Alan, which adapters did you buy? I'm having a heck of a time discerning which simply add space and which actually change bolt patterns 5 to 6 to accommodate the new rim/tire package I want. Thanks!

Hey Alan,
I appreciate your reply on this thread, tho it's been awhile ago.
I have a '98 f150 XLT and want to put adapters going from 5 lug to 6 lug to accept a new tire/wheel package I can get free. They're off a 2021 FX4. Tire size is LT 275/65 R18... my current combination is 265/75 R16. Can you point me to the right adapters?
