the bearings are built into the rotors, you will need new rotors

I'm not real sure what you are asking or saying here. Are you saying that you have had the rotors replaced and now they are saying the bearings are out? Is it a 4x2? They have the bearings built into the rotors.

Normally the bearings will make a whirring noise, sounds like road noise, as you are going down the road and as you enter curves and turns, will increase in volume. You can usually feel it a little in the steering wheel if it is in the front.

Yes, it's not a problem changing one. I changed both of my fronts when my left one went out because I had 41,000 on them and I wanted matching front rotors. But I could have changed just the one. I kept the good one as a backup.

Someone posted a thread awhile back that there was now a kit out for replacing the bearing in a rotor. That was the only thing I've seen on it. Not sure what all is involved or what tools might be needed.

The 4x4 is separate and you can replace just the bearing, but the 4x2 is supposed to be one unit. He may be speaking of the 4x4.

But, even on the 4x2, if you look at it, it has a locking ring that secures it in the hub. There may be a repair kit you can get to replace it, but it's not the straight forward 2 piece like most vehicles or the 4x4. You might try some research and see if you find a repair kit for the 4x2s somewhere. If it were me, I would not mess with it, and would just change out the full rotor. It may be that the rotor is part of the bearing race, someway or you have a special seal. I don't know.
