Should I?

Okay, here is the deal a year ago i bought my lift and tires. I got the tires from 4wheelparts. I found them on the website under the blemish section. I was reassured that the blemish was cosmetic only and the were not allowed to sell them to me if they were structually defective. I bought the 35x13.50x20 procomp xtreme alterrrain. the tires are originally $430 each and through the blemish sale i got them for $240 each. sweet deal so i bought 5 of them.

Now here present day, I have had them balanced professionally 5 times.
1. through 4 wheel parts when i first got them.
2. through 4 wheel parts again. ( cause i didnt really feel that they were balanced.
3. through a buddy that works at lexus.. who ive known for several years.
4. through my cousin who works at a ford dealership
5. through a friend who works at discount tire.

I have a friend who sells wheels, and he said that these '04 and up 150s are very sensitive to over size tires.

I am still getting the same feeling as if no one can balance them correctly, not only because the person who is doing them doesnt have the experience but because something is wrong with either the tire or wheel. I have read on this site before that even stock trucks have the bed shaking somewhat. this is sort of how i rate my ride. my bed shaking vs other f-150s i see in traffic. I have a 6" fabtech lift and I understand that big lift and big tires will make this worse but I feel it is a little too violent still. My dad suggested that I get the tires trued. Has anyone got there tires trued? or what do you think about getting them trued? one other option is to fight pro comp on the subject. I have not called them yet.

My boyfriend and another freind of mine are running the 35x12.50 version of this same tire, only on an 18" wheel. one is 2006 f-250 and one is a 1979 bronco. both of their trucks ride nice and smooth.

any thoughts, comments or advice would be great. thanks

might not be the tire.

Could possibly be the lift or your wheels.

possibly wheel bearings.

Truing tires works well but i dont think its your problem, it might be but i doubt it. Its hard to watch all the rubber fall to the ground when they do it. Ive never had it done but the shop i helped out at did it occasionally.

Well i'm not sure its the wheel bearing or the lift. I have put my stock wheels and tires on and the truck rides good like stock. But as soon as i put the 35" tires and monster wheels back on thats when the truck does what it does. I have heard that they do take alot of rubber off the tire but if it works do you think i should do it regardless?

Are they radials or bias? I have a friend running 33'' bias ply tires and he has the same trouble. He kinda chalked it up to not enough stability in the side wall. Im sure you have played with air pressure, His get better with more pressure but then they wear in the middle.

i dont think procomp sells the xtreme allterrain in BIAS ply. I could be wrong i havent looked recently.

If its only when the big tires and new wheels are on then the problem is somewhere in there.

Id give procomp a call before truing the tires. Tell them thats the only thing you havent tried and see what happens. I know for a fact that procomp stands by their products. Im not sure if they will try to skirt it since they are blems. id also make sure the wheels are infact ROUND and out of shape or un balanced.

I agree. You have narrowed the problem down to a tire(s) or wheel(s).
Also, Pro COmp doesn't have a bias ply tire.

out of round tire(s) will certainly ride like hell. however, i would do as trimble suggested and check the wheels themselves before having your tires cut up.

also, call procomp.

when i got my xtreme at's i actually got 1 brand new wheel that was outta round. can you have the rims balanced? we tried that on mine and you could it wobble like hell on the machine. maybe it's a certain rim, but personally i wouldn't buy a blemished tire for anything but a spare, but that's just me.

i don't know how many 04+ f150 rims/tires you friend did, but the shop it town did tons of sets of 33/18's and 35/20's and all balanced fine, maybe there lucky or 4WP just screwed you.

My first set of 35's were the same one you have now. I had to have them trued and still got over 45K miles out of them. I just got a new set put on earlier this month, no trueing required.

Thanks guys. I will have to give procomp a call and then just go from there. I will be checking out this site to see if you guys have any further suggestions.

One more ?, will the out of round wheel be obvious to the person balancing the combo, or is it something that gets overlooked? the guy at 4wp said the second time they balanced them, they checked for the wheel being out of round and they said the wheels are fine. thats what they "said"

obvious, not really but when they put it on the machine you can so tell. but they have to dismount the tire to be sure.
