Tire scalloping or cupping question?

I have a 99 super cab 4x4 and 4 wheel abs. All stock under the engine! My front tires are scalloping (cupping) on the OUTSIDE edge only on both sides(just front)??? Just replaced the wheel bearings(both) and am going to get alignment. I need new tires bad so i wanted to fix this before i ruin the new ones?? any help please chris

Main reason for the problem is alignment.
That being said, other problems can casue the alignment to be out. Especially ball joints.

Bad shocks and struts could also cause this.

Do you have your torsion bars cranked? If so I've heard on some trucks with them cranked up too much it can throw the camber out of adjustment so far an aligment alone will not fix it and a camber kit has to be installed to fix it.

tires

If you lifted the front the outside of you tires would wear without proper alignment just as lowering can wear the inside of tires without proper alignment. A camber kit may be needed if a regular alignment doesn't fix the problem.

If your vibration comes and goes at certain speeds it is your tire balance.

The guy who did your alignment would have checked your whole front end before he did the alignment. His shop would not waste the opportunity to sell more parts and labor if you needed it.
